We at Mubhen Limited (www.jobopenings.co.ug), we do not ask for any security deposit or fees (refundable or non-refundable) at any stage of the job application and recruitment process. We, therefore, appeal to the public to not respond to any such emails or job offers.

How to protect yourself from a recruitment fraud? Here are a few steps to follow:

The golden rules:

  1. Watch out for recruitment agencies / employers or sites that ask you for money just to apply or be listed as a job seeker. Be suspicious if you are asked for any kind of application fee or any other such fees through mobile money or any other means. You are looking for a job to get paid so you shouldn't pay to get one.
  2. Some personal information such as bank account details, place of birth, etc. would normally not appear on a CV. Be wary of employers that ask for such personal details at the beginning.
  3. Avoid posting your email or telephone contacts in social media comments especially for posts advertising jobs since comments are viewed publicly and fraudsters can pick up your contacts to promise you job offers in exchange for money.
  4. Look out for bad spelling, punctuation or irregular fonts. These are often clear signs of a mass-distribution of fraud email.
  5. If you are promised an unexpectedly large payment or reward in exchange for allowing the use of your bank account - often for depositing cheques or transferring money ignore the proposal.
  6. Take heed if the job posting appears to come from a genuine company or organization, but the contact's email address doesn't match the company's website domain (i.e., axyz@gmail.com, rather than axyz@companyname.com).
  7. When you realize that the job posting doesn't mention the responsibilities of the job rather it focuses on the amount of money you will be making, don’t run into considering such a job posting.
  8. If a Google search of the employer name (or name plus the word "scam") returns several scam reports, it’s a clear sign that the employer is not legitimate.
  9. If in response to your application to a legitimate-appearing job description, you receive a marketing email to sell you job search "help." Stop any communication with such persons.
  10. Some scummers own and operate fully-fledged websites and an email that is identical to their URL but in actual sense they are masquerading, they may post job opportunities on genuine career sites, job boards or even newspapers and when candidates apply they start sending emails that are not coordinated to the job in question. When we receive any complaints about any such job posting we list them off our site and black list such employers. Never hesitate to report such cases.
  11. To sum it up all, if the offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
