A self-motivated, self-activated person who is passionate about enabling supply chain solutions through consulting advisory and technology in both established and developing organisations. The focus would be on understanding business requirements, designing and delivering solutions within a structured product offering. An ideal candidate would have 10 years of working experience with exposure to supply chain planning and logistics and distribution, part of which should be in an operational context and part in a consulting context. Business analysis, system configuration, and project management experience within the supply chain solutions arena will be advantageous, although not essential.  

Our ideal candidate is both “technical” and understands the “business” side of supply chain. “Technical” is defined as being able to converse easily with developers, solve technical challenges and contribute to technical design discussions amongst other things. By understanding the “business” side of the supply chain, he/she should understand the process behind the technology, how people will interact with it, being able to train people on its’ use, and utilise a strong and varied experience set with previous supply chain systems and software implementation.

Main Purpose of Job

To support service / business area leadership in the implementation of strategic plan through the effective management of team/s

Key Performance areas:

1.    Strategic Impact

·       Supports the implementation of strategy of the Service Line / Business Area in relation to specific area of expertise

·       Implements the strategy within area of responsibility by conforming to plans set by leadership in all engagements / projects including:

o    Revenue targets

o    Talent management

o    Communication to teams

o    Tracking of plans in engagements / projects 

·       Actively identifies sales opportunities in broader market

·       Contributes to preparation of proposals/tenders and presentations

·       Participates in sales presentations and client negotiation teams for new and retained business

·       Grows market network with key players and builds long-term relationships

·       Builds relationships across Deloitte  service lines for cross-selling opportunities and combined engagement pursuits

·       Identifies innovative solutions on projects / engagements to enhance / renew service offerings to client

·       Drives own client portfolio and profitable book of business (depending on SL/BU)

2.    Client Impact: External / Internal

·       Maintains high level oversight of  client engagements / projects

·       Forms appropriate judgements based on careful analysis to makes sound business decisions on engagements / projects

·       Develops productive, credible and trusting relationships with key players and their teams during assignments / projects

·       Builds a network of senior-level internal relationships across Deloitte to understand other business unit offerings and to market own area

·       Establishes and maintains strong  relationships with external business leaders across industries

·       Contributes to thought leadership and shares knowledge and expertise with clients, colleagues and teams

3.    Operational Effectiveness

·       Communicates detail of SLA’s to teams and maintains high level monitoring of adherence by all parties

·       Manages engagement/project risk through supervision of completion of required documentation and processes as mandated by RIL, as well as risk to client confidentiality

·       Leads / manages complex client engagements and maintains high level oversight of all engagements / projects within sphere of responsibility

·       Meets regularly with clients and teams to understand issues, anticipate needs and address these

·       Consistently drives improvement on deliverables through effective leadership

·       Keeps SL/BU leadership updated on status of all assignments

·       Communicates need for any changes in engagement / project plan to relevant leadership and obtains agreement for relevant  amendments

·       Provides ongoing communication to teams on status of engagement / project, changes, achievements, etc.

·       Drives Deloitte values of exceptional service to clients, growing the firm’s brand and talent development

4.    Development

·       Mentors and develops team members and counselees on an ongoing basis

·       Empowers managers through appropriate delegation of work

·       Develops close working relationships with key talent

·       Maintains dynamic succession plans for every critical resource, depending on the profile / need expertise

·       Demonstrates commitment to transformation agenda of the firm

·       Provides consistent recognition and encouragement to teams and leads by example

·       Maintains own development and knowledge in specialised area and business

5.    Budgets / Profitability

·       Resources engagement teams with  suitable talent, balancing correct levels and numbers and recruiting as necessary

·       Manages margins effectively through accurate budgeting,  pricing and profitability management on engagements

·       Monitors that time and expenses to engagements are recorded and submitted weekly

·       Oversees WIP on projects / engagements and ensures billings are timeously done and collections followed up

·       (May) negotiate pricing for engagements to ensure profitability whilst maintaining client interests

6.    Differentiators for this specific role

·       Leads business development activities including sales pursuits and eminence in the SAP environment

·       Maintains relationships with SAP and identifies additional SAP products/modules that support the client’s strategy to enhance value and support add-on sales

·       Leverages product expertise to deliver core transformative projects and can articulate how a particular SAP solution solves a business problem

·       Maintains an enterprise-level and broad cross-functional perspective on a client’s IT architecture, actively supporting the SAP product portfolio (vs. focusing on one product)

·       Huge focus on sales and leading sales

Qualifications & Experience


·       Passed SAP Certification exam

·       Tertiary qualification in business, Engineering or Information Systems

·       7 years’ working experience


·       5 years in a client facing role; 3 of these in a management role

·       Previous experience in a supply chain / logistics industry preferably in Consumer or TMT
