Why is this role important at Infobip?

We are a part of the Infrastructure business area, where we work on our monitoring, logging and alerting infrastructure. The solutions we work on are supporting a vast spectrum of stakeholders, including Infobip’s entire Engineering and Support departments. As Infobip is exponentially growing (>1200 unique services, >50 datacenters), our challenges include providing observability at scale (~30 million active time series metrics, ~150k log messages per second) as well as sharing knowledge and helping our stakeholders how to apply best practices. Your role will include keeping up with observability topics (monitoring, alerting, logging, metrics, tracing) and your genuine interest into these topics is important so you can help us shape Infobip’s observability story.

What will you do at Infobip? 

  • Work on monitoring, logging and alerting infrastructure
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot your team services
  • Have full ownership of the code you produce
  • Have a general overview and understanding of the interactions and dependencies in the entire system
  • Write well designed, testable and scalable code in accordance with clean code principles
  • Grow towards full stack development and for us this means work primarily on backend development but also expand your knowledge on working with databases and system design
  • Work within agile and have a dedicated Technical Product Owner
  • Participate with your team in agile practices such as planning and retrospectives
  • Expand and improve your knowledge both internally and externally and be a part of engineering community

Qualifications

Required qualifications:  

  • Mid or senior professional looking for a high growth challenge  
  • Experience working with Java and Maven 
  • Experience with Spring and Spring Boot development 
  • Some experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch or similar commercial tools 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of object-oriented principles 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of data structures and algorithms 
  • Recognizing the value of code-review, pair programming and experience with code testing  
  • Good understanding of RESTful services 

Nice to have qualifications:  

  • Familiar with tools such as Docker, Jenkins, Canary, Git 
  • Understanding of databases and data management tools like MSSQL, PostgreSQL or other 
  • Some experience with JavaScript  
  • Some experience with Graylog or other logging solutions 
  • Experience with Opsgenie or other alert management systems 
  • Worked with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence and Slack 
  • Some experience in Bash, Go, Groovy, Python
